A As Thanksgiving nears and families reunite and times where families will be reunited excite us, there is a necessity to reflect upon ourselves and the things in our lives that we are grateful for in every angle. In the light of love, family, health, happiness, and life, these are such things that must be appreciated all year long, – rather, every day. To change up our perspective this holiday season, I will highlight communicational aspects in our lives that are underappreciated, aspects that and change our lives in the most unlikely way. It’s never too early in the year to bring about our attitude of gratitude.
As a generation, we often take for granted the surplus we have in means of communication. And yes, we should be thankful for those ways. Our methods of communication have ways of communicating haves progressively become progressively quicker and more suitable for long distances as opposed to when our grandparents had to write letters to one another simply to simply check up on each other, or if we rewinding much further to around the sixteenth century where messages would take months to be received, and one will not know if it is received. Unfortunately, although we have the ability to communicate in a blink of an eye, regardless of the distance, communication lessens and loses its respective gloss. Enjoyments of a special message are replied through an emoji, long love notes are not shortened to an “ILY!”, and rather than catching up with old friends, texting suffices. Through our access to the internet, calls, texting, video calling, and the ability to talk face to face with any person possible, anything is possible and we must be thankful for these and reevaluate our use of it as well.
All ends of the world may be interconnected now, and this Thanksgiving season we must appreciate our means of interactions with one another in the most appropriate fashion. Communicate with people who mean the most to you and ensure that they know this as much as you do. Rather than focusing on how our time is reflected on social media or, it is suggested that we should attempt to truly enjoy our company around us, whether it be family or friends, and take advantage of our human characteristics of being able to look eye to eye and talk our hearts away. Our attitude of gratitude must be intensified like never before.
