Winkle, Cassandra | Grade 6 Science
Ms. Winkle began teaching 6thgrade science at Archimedean Middle Conservatory in 2017. She received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Miami, with a major in biochemistry and a minor in English. Throughout her undergraduate pursuit, she researched and published papers related to the effect that antimalarial drugs have on DNA. She also earned her master’s degree from UM, where she focused on curriculum and research related to exercise physiology. During her graduate career, Ms. Winkle used her background in biochemistry to research human body adaptations to exercise. Both degrees provided a foundation to understand and apply the driving forces of nature. One of her main goals as an educator is to combine her experience in chemical, physical, and life sciences to show students that basic science principles can be applied to a multitude of areas for a deeper understanding of the world. In doing so, she hopes to provide students with the skills and motivation needed to be empowered to positively contribute to the community.
