Sarkar, Puja | English

Grounded in a genuine passion, curiosity, and love for English literature, I aim to bring inquisitiveness and clarity to the classroom.

Shaped by years of storytelling throughout college as an amateur writer in Bangladesh and pedagogical studies during my year at the Bard College Master of Arts in Teaching Program, my teaching philosophy transcends traditional textbook learning, skills of memorization, and teacher-centered classrooms. It is based on pushing students to think critically, ask questions that go beyond the stories, and develop their own voices and ideas.

Fostering healthy learning habits and maintaining a consistently calming yet productive space for self-reflection, self-evaluation, and constructive discussions presents itself as a challenge for today’s students, especially in a time defined and shaped by the Internet and social media.

My commitment rests on providing a space for students to slow down and reconnect with physical books, building focus, imagination, and meaningful engagement with the written word, and furthermore, understanding themselves as readers and individual thinkers.
