Guiding Philosophy
It is A.U.C.’s ambition to help each and every student pass successfully on to college or university that best suits her or his personality, aspirations, and interests.
Matriculation into high school, its augmented expectations, the transition into adulthood, increased personal responsibilities, the identification of individual strengths, and the college choice and application process can be an exciting though challenging journey for both students and their families. In an effort to ensure the smooth and successful passage through high school and on to college, and because high school should be a memorable time of intellectual growth, self-discovery, goal setting, and life planning, individual attention and personalized guidance are the hallmark of A.U.C.’s college counseling department.
It is A.U.C.’s ambition to help each and every student pass successfully on to college or university that best suits her or his personality, aspirations, and interests. To that end, the department, though its continual support of and advocacy for our pupils, urges students to consider a broad range of post-secondary institutions and encourages open communication and teamwork among the student, parents, teachers, administration, and counselor. Throughout their journey with us, Upper School students are thus guided through age-appropriate benchmarks in the college decision-making process with the hope of making their high school experiences and college transitions as meaningful, fruitful, and seamless as possible. A true labor of love, our passion and dedication stem from our shared belief that every child deserves to be given the necessary academic and psychosocial preparations required to reach their full potential and the academic and social foundations necessary to lead option-filled, opportunity-packed, and fulfilling lives.
