A Touching Meeting Between Archimedean Academy Students And Greek Singer Pantelis Thalassinos

On February 8, 2017, Archimedean Academy 4th- and 5th-grade students met via Skype with renowned Greek singer and composer
Pantelis Thalassinos.

Their interest was sparked by their Greek language teacher, Ms Aikaterini Mesimeri (4th Grade), who worked with the students to organise the interview. Together with Ms Maria Pappa (5th Grade), the teachers introduced students to the artist’s biography and helped them prepare thoughtful questions.

During the meeting, in a very emotionally charged atmosphere, the students sang to him “O Chronos tou Genari” (“The Time of January”), and he responded by singing “Ta Smyrneika Tragoudia”.

Parents and colleagues noted that it was the first time a class had experienced such a meaningful and emotional event. The meeting was attended by parent representatives, the principal, the vice principal, and the head of the Greek program.

Congratulations to our students and teachers for organising this special experience, and heartfelt thanks to Pantelis Thalassinos for graciously accepting the invitation.
