Towner Ted AMC Faculty

Towner, Ted | Grade 8 Philosophy

Since joining Archimedean in 2021, I have taught 8th Grade Philosophy.

I also serve as the Coach of the Ethics Olympiad Program for both the Middle School and High School levels.

I earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Philosophy with honors from Beloit College.

I also hold an M.Phil. (ABD) in Philosophy from Syracuse University.

My research interests focused on Metaethics, Moral Psychology, and the Philosophy of Action.

Before joining Archimedean, I taught philosophy as an Instructor at Southeast Missouri State University for four years.

My philosophy program centers on combining theories of value, knowledge, and human nature to provide a nuanced perspective on philosophical questions and problems.

In class, students explore these topics through a rigorous foundation in logical argumentation, theory analysis, and the psychology and practice of the Socratic Method.

The culture of my classroom promotes student expression, freedom, and self-advocacy.

I strive to foster an environment built on trust, respect, and maturity, where students feel supported by their peers, teacher, and the material they are learning.
