Christina Briz Grade 6 English Language Arts

Briz, Christina | Grade 6 English Language Arts

Christina Briz is the 6th Grade English Language Arts Teacher at Archimedean Middle Conservatory.

She earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Florida International University (FIU) and a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University.

She is certified in K–6 Education with an ESOL endorsement, as well as in 6–9 Social Studies and 6–9 English Language Arts.

Ms. Briz began her teaching career in 1996 as a Middle School teacher in Washington, D.C., where she worked until 2000.

After returning to Miami, where she was born and raised, she continued teaching for another nine years.

She taught at Carrollton School of the Sacred Heart as a 4th Grade Teacher, at Mater Academy as a 1st and 2nd Grade Teacher, and at Downtown Miami Charter School as a Middle School Administrator and Mentor Teacher.

In 2005, she joined Archimedean Academy.

She had the honor of serving Archimedean families for more than thirteen years, first as an Assistant Principal for 10 years and later as Principal for 3 years.

In 2019, she chose to return to the classroom in order to spend more time with her family.

She then taught at Somerset Palms for three years, teaching 6th, 7th, and 8th Grade Language Arts, U.S. History, and Civics.

She values the experience gained at Somerset, believing it helped prepare her for her return to Archimedean in her current role as a 6th Grade ELA Teacher.

As an educator with more than 25 years of experience, she believes that education is one of the most powerful tools for creating social change, and that all children can learn.

As a Language Arts teacher, she encourages students to understand the meaning of “Language Arts.” Just as artists use paint and canvas to create imagery, authors use words to create images in the minds of readers.

She teaches students that the tools of the “Language Artist” include vocabulary, punctuation, structure, and literary devices.

She believes that a successful Language Arts program begins with instilling a love for reading and writing, supported by a curriculum rich in authentic literature.

To fully appreciate literature, she believes students must also understand the historical and cultural context in which works were written.

She values the trust placed in her by the Archimedean administration and families and hopes to make them proud through her work.

Working closely with her team, she is confident in helping students achieve the collective goal of preparing for admission to top universities.

She believes that strong reading and writing skills benefit students in every academic area, and she approaches this responsibility with dedication and purpose.

“We will reach our goal!”
