Dr. Christoforidou, Kalypso | Greek Language & Culture

Dr. Kalypso Christoforidou-Gayraud is a psychopedagogue, psychotherapist, and researcher specializing in Special and Inclusive Education and the professional identity of special education teachers.

She studied Educational Sciences at Université Paris X–Nanterre in France and Special Education – Psychopedagogy at École d’Éducateurs Spécialisés, Buc-Ressources, France.

She completed her Master of Science (MSc) in 2011, her professional training in Special Education in 2012, and her Ph.D. in 2021 at the University of Ioannina, Greece.

Her doctoral research examined the historical genealogy of special education and related legislation in Greece, as well as the role of clinical training in shaping teachers’ professional identity.

Her work bridges historical-critical analysis with applied pedagogy, emphasizing Foucauldian perspectives on power and knowledge, the genealogy of disability discourses, and the transformative value of reflective and experiential teacher training.

She has published work related to psychosocial support structures, co-authored the French-language book Connaître le handicap, reconnaître la personne, and authored both Master’s and Doctoral theses in Greece.

Until 2022, she served as the Coordinator of Special and Inclusive Education for the region of Epirus.

Dr. Christoforidou-Gayraud currently teaches Greek Language and Culture at Archimedean Academy in Miami, while also maintaining her clinical practice as a psychotherapist for children, adolescents, and adults.

She is also a certified PreK–12 School Counselor through the Florida Department of Education.
