At Archimedean Schools, we are proud of the achievements of our graduates and are excited to highlight their successes with the wider school community. One such graduate, Gaby Ulloa, has made impressive strides in the field of mechanical engineering and robotics.
After graduating from Archimedean, Gaby pursued a degree in Mechanical Engineering at MIT, where she earned her S.B. and has since stayed on to complete her M.S. She has been actively involved in various extracurricular activities, including the MIT Electric Vehicle Team, MIT Cru Fellowship, and IM Soccer. Gaby also gained valuable hands-on experience through internships, such as working as a Falcon Design Engineer at SpaceX, contributing to the design of a locking system for booster landing legs, and conducting biomechanics research at Washington University in St. Louis, exploring the effects of elastin on tendon mechanical properties.
Currently, Gaby is part of the Improbable AI Lab under Dr. Pulkit Agrawal, focusing on developing robotic hardware. For her graduate thesis, she is designing and manufacturing a robust, anthropomorphic 2-DOF robotic wrist, aimed at aiding in policy training for manipulation tasks related to activities of daily living (ADLs). Gaby is set to graduate in May 2025 and will soon join Neocis Inc., a robotic dental surgery company based in Miami, as a Mechanical Engineer.
Reflecting on her time at Archimedean, Gaby recalls the incredible experiences she had, particularly with the Science Olympiad team, where she made lasting memories traveling with friends and achieving their first-ever victory against Boca. She fondly remembers the late-night sessions in the library, working hard on the mousetrap vehicle project. Another highlight was her time as a member of the Girls’ Varsity Soccer team, where winning the district championship with her teammates and enjoying special practices at KSP with stunning sunsets were moments she will always cherish.
