Dr. Konstantakos, Leonidas | Social Studies
Dr. Leonidas Konstantakos teaches history and debate, helping students develop historical understanding, critical thinking, clear writing, and confident public speaking. His educational philosophy is rooted in the classical ideal that education should shape both the mind and the character.
He believes students should be challenged to think carefully, argue respectfully, seek truth, and connect the lessons of the past to the responsibilities of the present. His goal is to help students become thoughtful, articulate, and principled young people prepared for both academic success and meaningful civic life.
Dr. Konstantakos holds a Ph.D. in International Relations and two Masters degrees (Liberal Studies and International Relations), with research focused on Stoicism, ethics, and just war theory.
He is the author of Stoicism and Just War Theory and co-author of Being Better: Stoicism for a World Worth Living In. His academic work explores how ancient philosophy can help us think more clearly about character, justice, citizenship, and moral responsibility.
In addition to his work at Archimedean, he has taught philosophy, international relations, and ethics classes at Florida International University and Miami Dade College.
