Meeting Thanasis Papakonstantinou
An Unforgettable Experience

On April 26th 3rd grade Archimedean scholars had the pleasure of meeting with the distinguishable singer Thanasis Papakonstantinou. 3rd Graders of elementary school worked on the project “Music teaches, brings people of different cultures together” with the responsible Greek Language teacher Aikaterini Mesimeri and in cooperation with the music teacher Ms. Marquez and the Greek teacher Ms. Drymona. Students wished for his birthday, they “interviewed” him in Greek, and he answered their questions, with the directness that characterizes him. He also told us the story of “Pexlivanis” which is one of the most beautiful Greek songs. The pupils sang other well-known and popular songs, such as “Aeriko“, and “Simun“, and presented choreographies. Thanasis played his favorite song “Under the Pillow“.

The artist was impressed by how nicely the students sang (with his sense of humor he said I can’t sing as well as you), from their fluency in the Greek language and the teamwork spirit of the teachers.

The 10th Elementary School Sykeon of Thessaloniki also participated in the activity, where they sang “In America” and the principal proposed the twinning of the two schools.

It was a wonderful experience for all of us.
